Unfortunately, there is no political appetite for increasing international student numbers in the foreseeable future. More tough times are ahead for the sector over the next two to three years.

Time will tell whether Canada can successfully join Fortress Europe or will it be forced to join Fortress America, willingly or not. Also, keep an eye on developments in S. Africa (sea route) & New Zealand (air route), they're key to China's plan to bypass the US & reach the resources of S. America.

Essentially, China hasn't signed off on the deal. That's why there have been nothing but crickets. Most likely, the TikTok on-again, off-again negotiation will be extended if the parties are unable to reach a deal, and we will be discussing this well into 2026.
