Official Weather Canada windchill here is -43 right now, if it goes below -45 they cancel the busses and I have to go pick up my kids from school, where they will probably have to wait outside until I get there... (Kind of a ridiculous rule, but ok whatever. These are pretty ridiculous conditions.)

Ugh... I take it back... things are not getting better at WCGH. Now new admissions have been halted for those that do not have a family doctor that is resident in the hospital.

Good article in Hashilthsa about the ongoing closure of the ICU at West Coast General.

13 people have been redirected since the closure. About 30% of ICU patients were previously being redirected elsewhere for higher care.

Good news story! A Royal Canadian Navy member fell from a rigid hull inflatable boat about one kilometre east of Bentinck Island off Metchosin, BC south of Victoria. He was located and retrieved from the water within a couple hours and he's home and safe!

I’m sure it’s not likely, but all kinds of significant and impactful movements happen driven by a powerful minority, and the Take Back Alberta crowd is currently firmly in control and whether there will be enough meaningful pushback is still an open question.
