🧵 The third municipality in my trilobite series is Málkov in Central Bohemia. A small community of around ninety inhabitants, Málkov is a typical Bohemian agricultural village. Depending on the source, it dates back either to the eleventh or the fourteenth century.

🧵 The second arms and flag in my trilobite series belong to the municipality of Čelechovice na Hané. The name itself suggests its location in the fertile ethno-geographical region of Hanakia (Haná), sometimes referred to as the breadbasket of Czechia.

Lately I have been looking into unusual charges in Czech municipal heraldry and ended up finding five coats of arms in the country that feature a trilobite. Naturally I had to emblazon all of them.

This one is the first, belonging to the town of Jince. (1/6)

I spotted the flag of Český Brod while visiting the town earlier this week. It’s an interesting way of turning the coat of arms into a flag. The original arms follow a common Central European pattern with a city gate and inescutcheons containing the imperial eagle and the Bohemian lion. (1/3)

I had the opportunity to visit another one of "my" towns. This time, it was Bernartice, whose #coatofarms and #flag I designed earlier this year. This small town holds a surprising story. The prominent feature in its coat of arms, an unfinished bridge, (1/6) #heraldry #vexillology

Another visit to Lipnice nad Sázavou for a meeting of the Subcommittee for Heraldry and Vexillology. The town's flag is an excellent way to simplify the historical arms without resorting to a banner of arms. Those are unfortunately overused, and with the overwhelming... (1/2)
