Love this! As someone with a deep love of sci-fi and a lot of the books that are referenced, it makes me so sad and angry that these powerful people are just completely missing the point of the sci-fi they claim as inspiration.

On the upside, it does remind me of an all-time favourite Twitter post

Babies first #parkrun this morning. Getting him indoctrinated early!

And a new adventure begins!

It’s been a long time coming but he’s finally here. Four weeks of not a lot of sleep and quite a lot of coffee so far, and many more weeks, months and years of that to come!

I cannot think of a situation where I don’t want to make pizza at home. I’ve made them in rain and mist.

And yes it’s dark and below zero tonight, but you know what? Pizza.

Starting 2025 in the best way. At Barter Books in Alnwick buying more books to add to the pile of books at home that I haven’t read yet.

There’s no such thing as too many books right?

My first attempt at Strava art for a festive Friday night with Morley Run Club went pretty well I would say!

Full credit to our run leaders for designing the route and directing us up and down roads and round all the loops

My cats, Jim and Rosie, approve of this research. Particularly Rosie as it confirms her own suspicions that as a ginger female cat, she is a rare and special creature.

The @britsocimm.bsky.social Winter School is a go! Our first speaker, Professor Janet Lord is up and we have 135 students for the next two days learning about Immunology, careers and public engagement.

And now that it's started I can breathe a little!

My job for this Friday off is largely watching paint dry. The level of excitement is very much living up to expectations.

On the bright side, 2 walls done so at least I’m halfway through.

Reminds me of this, exact same vibe

It’s only taken me 2 and a half years to get round to doing a literally 30 second job, but I finally have my Galaxy’s Edge custom lightsaber mounted above my desk next to the neon rocket I designed for my 30th birthday!

Did a photography walk in York with my Dad a couple of months ago and this is probably my favourite photo of the day.

Hadn’t really played with black and white or street portraits before and it all lined up nicely as we looked down the Shambles and this guy walked towards me.

Slowly building up my #TerryPratchett hardback collection. 18 down, only 16 more to go!

Not sure why, but I just didn't discover Discworld when I was younger so really enjoying going through them for the first time as an adult

Not a bad view from the train this morning on the way down to London for our monthly staff day.

Almost makes up for the early start. Almost.

Post a picture you took (no description) to bring some zen to the timeline

Roughly 50% of my photos are of my cats. Which honestly feels pretty normal for anyone with cats.

This is Rosie, who is far too curious and spends most of her days plotting our murders. Her brother Jim is a lovable idiot that embodies the spirit of 'no thoughts, just vibes'.

There’s something really lovely about author talks (not just because I buy a new book and get it signed). An evening with an interesting person talking on a subject they are passionate about.

Last month it was Peter F Hamilton, tonight it was Ben Aaronovitch for the new Rivers of London novella.

Since we’ve actually had some sun today for the first time in two weeks, here's a picture from the amazing Arts et Metier Museum in Paris when we went last year.

I love a good science museum and this was a very good one. And it had a huge Foucault Pendulum.

This is 100% a #humblebrag but after training for a marathon, half marathon and 10K I’ve managed to run 1,000 miles in a year for the first time!

I've also apparently spent nearly 7 full days running which is frankly just a silly amount of time.

New social media network is a perfect excuse to repost old photos! (Which means a lot more posts like this)

This was from my birthday walk last month at Hardcastle Crags.

Back in my one of my favourite places for the weekend
October 26, 2024 at 9:24 AM
I started running four years ago to escape some of the tedium of lockdown and I definitely didn't think I'd still be doing it, enjoying it more than ever and that I'd run an actual flipping marathon!

Was aiming to finish it under 4 hours and did it with 5 minutes to spare!
