Was he fired meaning terminated for cause? Left can imply a bunch of different things here, and which of them may indicate how seriously the NYT investigated it and considered it. Laid off w/severance vs. allowed to resign vs. terminated for cause.

I don’t think Kamala is quite the same because Hillary was both more ambitious and starting from a higher level - she was thought of as bright and ambitious by some of her Wellesley classmates (that’s first hand from one) and Wellesley/Yale is in status land higher than Howard/Hastings

That story doesn’t quite pass the smell test. He only discloses things in August or before August 2018, the editors banish him from covering his source but he’s still writing, then he’s let go about the time the Miami Herald Epstein story breaks in November?

LTJr’s last byline for the NYT was 2.5 weeks before the Miami Herald Epstein story dropped in November 2018, if we are trying to establish a timeline that might be more accurate than the one the NYT told NPR.

If you look at the ~$200 million Leon Black paid Epstein aside from what he paid for a tax strategy, little of it was managing wealth it was negotiating boats and planes or other such things. Not investing.

If you go to 2015 there are 0 stories on the NYT with his byline about Trump, the first story about Trump with a LTJr byline appears after Trump’s 2016 election. So did the NYT just not care? Kill the stories? Neither Epstein nor Trump were huge in finance, so it’s not his reporting beat.

not sure it’s the often toxic and generally pointless bullying as much as a person being on BlueSky is a permission structure for certain political types to ignore people they already wanted to ignore.

There‘s the weird blindness in their assumption the amputee is a Civil War veteran, amputations were not uncommon because accidents at work or in life were much more common!

nobody made much money whaling except the owner, the captain, and maybe the mates. And by “much money” I mean subsistence farmer was more lucrative, so, likely to attract people from discriminated against groups that couldn’t even get to be subsistence farmers.

I don’t see why it wouldn’t be much different than an organized hunting safari and Sarajevo is quite a bit closer to Italy than Kenya. Rich idiots shooting badly at living things is a whole industry.

There was a report he put up an auto pen as the portrait of Biden. Similarly the Obama picture is not flattering. I guess the press is just too desperate to be at the WH to pay attention to the details?
