I’m gonna skip this generation. The improvements are just too iterative for me.

I tried watching live tv the other day after years of self-hosting my media. I have very little patience for tv as it is today.

Why can’t people just let others like things? It’s not your cup of tea, fine. Just let it go. To quote Q: *said derisively* “Humans.”

It has layers for my wife and I because the actor who plays the Shatner analogue for Nebula 9 is an actor who my wife and I enjoy watching on Eureka.

That’s one of my fav episodes of Castle.

Fuck humanity. Fuck Walmart.

I want to go deeper. Give me sub-genres.

When they come back to us we’ll be like:

Jesus tap dancing Christ. *sigh* This isn’t a game of hot potato, this is people’s livelihoods.

If by software engineer, you mean junior engineer who will be paid less to diagnose generative AI bugs yet not know enough to solve the problem then sure. No software engineer that I work with sees AI as anything more than a way for companies to lay them off despite AIs clear disabilities.

TNG continued in that spirit, though the tech side of things was used far too often for various macguffins and deus ex machinas for even my liking. I suppose it was the showrunners way of saying “we’re in the future here!”

TOS while it had pulp fiction, wasn’t the point of it. I can appreciate you liked that portion and enjoyed it more than other aspect, but pulp fiction was more to appeal to audiences expectations of the era and then providing much needed societal reflection.

Though, for my part, I always thought their designs were not incredibly practical, pretty, or interesting. But that doesn’t negate yours or others interest in it.

I understand why you feel this way, but R was never the one to focus on wars, tactics, strategy in the Trek realm and with FASA more focused on that aspect, it was never going to work out. I just let FASA Trek sit in its own multiverse and enjoy it for what it is.

I still wish there was a modern mini-disc format for lossless audio.

Agreed. And frankly, folks should have what they like, tradition be damned. If you prefer traditions, go for it. If you don’t, no worries. These days I only take interweb opinions as just that. They aren’t authoritative. No one should care how you celebrate nor whether you DO celebrate.

It makes you wonder why they haven’t invested in code “tree-shaking” to optimize.
