This is the email just received by IMLS staffers placing them on paid administrative leave for up to 90 days.

“Please understand that this action is not punitive but rather is taken to facilitate the work and operations of the agency.”

Here’s a photo of two of the three DOGE mercenaries at IMLS. The shorter one has been ID’d as Nate Cavanaugh. I’ve confirmed Gavin Hamrick was on the premises as well.

You should know they tried to shutter the Inst. of Museums and Library Services today, but there was press that unexpectedly showed up. There was a lot of posting on social media. DOGE and the puppet quisling they rolled out to show up, shut it down quietly, and move on were forced to change plans.
Latest Trump cuts put summer reading, mobile libraries and local museums in jeopardy

The "museum and library" guy has been installed illegally while actually be the Deputy at an entirely different agency and he's only there for the air of officialdom because the actual leadership has refused to break the law in terminating their employees.

It would be... if the media were there to cover it. IMLS major professional partnership orgs like the American Association of Museums have tried to get the word out, but there's been zero traction with major outlets so far.

It's like VEEP, but nothing is funny. It's just cringe.

Second note: The statute states that only the DD for Libraries and the DD for Museums can serve as Acting Director. So how the fuck is Keith Sonderling all of a sudden the Acting Director? IMLS leadership refused to illegally terminate their workforce & now the T admin is just breaking the law.

I bet @schumer.senate.gov will definitely be there to practice legislative oversight of an agency he served up on a silver platter in the catastrophic resolution he let pass last week.

Looks like the gutting of our federal government is still in overdrive.

You're a fucking moron - you voted against the bill once it didn't need 60 votes. This stroke must have hit quite hard.
March 15, 2025 at 1:06 AM
You are proof it takes brain damage to vote with the Republicans. Fuck all the way off.
March 15, 2025 at 1:04 AM
You gotta be fucking kidding me. Is this *House that must act quickly* in the room with us now, Chuck? Is this an ammendment to the bill that was RIGHT FUCKING IN FRONT OF YOU? God, it sucks you won't be around to read the footnotes historians will write about this "decision". Coward.

Imagine spending FIFTY YEARS as a FEDERAL LEGISLATOR, facing the end of democracy to get turned around by a rent-a-cop with a clip-on tie. My man, take a late coworker's advice and, "GET INTO GOOD TROUBLE."

I know somebody who works for IMLS, and she is literally the most amazing person I know. Please, for the love of reading and learning, save IMLS.
