An environment in which a handful (and increasingly concentrated group) of insurers can tell you “here’s the policy, here’s the price and if you don’t like it, go to a different insurer) is not exactly conducive to negotiation.

What did the Democratic senators who supported this deal expect?

You supported it when you helped set the conditions under which it is now coming to the floor. That’s all Republicans needed.

I mean, it’s a lot, and it’s “lost” in a couple of hours, not overtime.
Again, if some has sustained anemic conditions, I concede that might be different. So I guess I’m only talking about impact of quick, relatively large losses

Not trying to argue, and I know there is a lot of variation, but do you think even in cases of heavy menstruation that a person might lose the equivalent of four to six units of blood products with concentrated levels platelets? This is a picture of what was withdrawn in my last donation.

But is a person is already disposed towards anemia, that’s a whole different matter.

Right. I’m a cis male, so there may be some other things at play, but I was just thinking about your suggestion that platelet loss through menstruation might contribute to mood impact. I’m guessing that my platelet loss in an average donation outstrips the average loss through typical menstruation.

Luckily, your body replaces platelets very quickly. You can donate as frequently as every seven days (subject to some other limitations over the course of a year). Also, just learned that your spleen stores platelets, so even if you lose some through blood loss, there is a back up supply.

I donate platelets regularly, up to two times a month, usually multiple units per donation (so I “lose” a lot of platelets each time) and I have never observed any impact on mood. Anecdotal, I know, but would hate to have people think that platelet donation might lead to depression.

Tried to call my Senators over the weekend, and neither offices’ phone systems even let you leave a message.

Even if it was just ammonia or bleach, who doesn’t wash their hands after getting ammonia and bleach on them?

This is the same as “everybody who will lose the healthcare will know who to blame.” The point was for them not lose their healthcare in the first place.

Is it possible the Republicans indicated to Schumer that they were ready to blow up the filibuster to end the shut down (as Trump requested) and Schumer’s primary goal became to save the filibuster?

I am honestly at a loss as to what House Dems can do. Are there any House Republicans who will vote against this deal?
