Before leaving Resipole for our new home in Speyside today, I took a last visit to Castle Tioram. A special place for so many, and famously Winston Churchill, who allegedly proclaimed it as the 2nd most beautiful place on earth. It was easy to see why.

A sight I will miss when leaving Rockpool House in 2 weeks time. Three minutes of gold from the setting sun and violet from storm clouds mixing over Loch Sunart. It’s been a privilege to have this view from my home for the past decade.

The full glory of Autumn’s colours surrounds the Old Bridge over the River Shiel at the House Pool. The bridge dates back to 1804 and was constructed as part of Thomas Telford’s road from Corran Ferry to Kinlochmoidart.

A sure sign of autumn having arrived is seeing that the deer have come down from the hills. Here was mother and child feeding on the low ground behind the house when I stepped outside the house first thing the other morning.
