Carly brings over 25 years of leadership experience across health, law and transport, with the last 16 years dedicated to sustainable mobility .

The #EU also expands emissions trading to road transport, shifts travel to rail and public transport, supports battery sustainability, and integrates climate resilience into infrastructure planning.

With transport responsible for 25% of EU CO₂ emissions, the NDC includes strong measures:
– 100% CO₂ reduction for new cars & vans by 2035
– Deep cuts for trucks & buses

Equity is the litmus test: only 52% of urban residents had convenient public transport access (2022), and just 5% had protected bike lanes within 300m (2023). With new #NDCs, #COP30 and the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport (2026–2035), let’s make transport clean, safe and affordable—for all.

Transport is still a major driver of warming: 15.9% of global GHG and 21.9% of global CO₂ (2023). It’s also 95.4% fossil-fuel powered. If we’re serious about #climate, we need avoid–shift–improve, electrification, clean fuels, and investment away from fossil lock-in—fast. Full data in #GSR4.

Today we co-organised, with IDRC and in collaboration with CCG, ADB and ITDP, a dedicated session on operationalising the Implementation Plan of the UN Decade. The discussion focused on data and research, technical capacity building, and finance for low- and middle-income countries.
