“I have seen the fall of empires, heard the final rattles of despots, and I can save the least of our disinherited from the very worst of our many enemies. All I ask is that you join me. See what we truly are and what we can truly be.”

I’ve got procedures, I’ve got regs. And I’ve got means. To a point.”
Crawford smoked slowly, sore bliss fading into a buzz of anxiety. “ but you don’t quit.”
“You know I can’t. Charlie took a deep breath. “I’m still going to try to help… I will do that.”

That’s the price of this…we’re tourists through the world’s fickle changes in fashion and faith. Everyone I ever loved before the bite is dead and gone forever. It’ll be the same for you soon enough.”

Apropos of nothing, I came up with one of those experimental variations of a drink I like while in Japan recently, a Negroni with no vermouth on hand.

The “Tokyo Vespa” keeps the Campari and gin but subs in sweet sake for the vermouth. It’s slightly smoother I think.

Home from Japan now, have one day off to recover that I’m gonna need as I caught a bug at some point that morphed from a small sore throat on the last day to a full head-cold ripper during the last 12 hour dry-air plane flight. Lots of elbow coughing and chugging lukewarm tea.
Anyway, last pics

Is seeing a Japanese band at an Osaka Oktoberfest celebration cover Go West by the Pet Shop Boys on your bucket list?

We can’t stray too far in Osaka tonight, so wandered into Shinsekai. This city is still awesome :)

Went to Nara today, one of my favourite places in all of Japan, the original capital and home to thousands of friendly (usually) cervines

Was in Nagoya quite often when I worked here back in 2003-4. Not much has changed and I still have fond memories of this place:)

Finished a great weekend in Fujiwguchiko, where the mount in question played hide and seek with some heavy clouds. Awesome vibe regardless and we were finally able to get a glimpse as the train was about to depart
