The game itself is definitly not just played by regressive types otherwise stuff like Critical Role or Dimension 20 wouldnt have happend in the first place. Again tho I wont argue that DND certainly has had and has issues with classic fantasy tropes.

Gygax had some....views which did sometimes result in wierd fucking shit in early DND (see how early DND handled women) but yeah most of that stuff was scrubbed a while ago and more recently DND mostly just fall into the same traps much of fantasy does.
