Russia must be destroyed.

German here. In school we learned about the first phase after the Nazis took the power. This is what you're experiencing right now. The scaring and extermination of the opposition. That's why it's happening in mostly liberal cities now. They want you to be scared too much to really fight back and1/4

But in the long run, I think national democracy in the US is finished & in its death throes. If half the voters want a dictatorship, and most people don't care, then either division or dictatorship is assured. The idea that democracy can be restored in Washington seems a very dim hope at this point.

Perhaps tyranny is America's lot, and rule by vile idiots its punishment. Perhaps "every drop of blood drawn with the lash" will be a never-ending stream. But we'll see how long the endurance of the oppressed continues. Perhaps they won't submit to wrongs & outrages forever. /20

In short: Democracy cannot survive if it won't defend itself against the fascist threat, if its leaders are too weak to lift a finger, and prefer to kneel. Democracy cannot survive if only the fascist party is willing to take action to defeat their foes and shape the nation. /19

The US is dying by suicide. As in 1860, half the population would rather destroy the country than bear the thought of fairness or equality. Barring a revolution, there's no solution in sight, even after this regime: only endless resentment, white backlash & political paralysis. /18

The government will be crippled by the financial disasters this regime has caused, and by whatever insane laws & budget cuts the fascists concoct (which may never be repealed). Recovery could take a generation, if it ever happens, but a permanent decline is the most likely outcome. /17

More likely, even if Dems ever rule again, pardons & compromise will be the order of the day (just like after the Civil War), and fascists will continue to block congress, stop reform, control public debate...and win more elections. Progress & reform may still be impossible. /16

But even in the best scenario (the mad tyrant decays, his incompetent minions scatter, mass protests force fair elections) I don't see a future of democratic reform ahead. What will even be left of the government, the treasury, or the media in 4 years? /15

In the meantime, I fear people will simply get used to the regime, accept its crimes & outrages, and endure the indignities of fascist rule for the indefinite future. "Mankind are more disposed to suffer," etc... People easily adapt to tyranny; it's easier than struggling. /14

What will it take? Perhaps only a catastrophe where everyone is threatened. People will remain blind and submissive until they're personally in danger, or they've lost everything. Then, when it's too late, perhaps they'll finally turn against their wicked rulers. /13

For the most part, Americans have shown themselves to be passive slaves, eager for the boot, unwilling to resist. The country seems incapable of removing even a weak, insane tyrant. No one is safe until the regime ends, but this will only happen when enough people finally unite and act. /12
June 16, 2025 at 11:21 AM
The protests, though growing, are still nowhere near sufficient. There is still not enough will, support, or organization to remove the regime. As long as people shrink from this goal, any opposition movement will be hobbled and divided. /11

A few rebukes from judges, a few speeches from Dems, will not change the course ahead. The regime will grow more radical, violence will increase, and laws will vanish. A gang of criminals, after ruling for years, will not concede elections. /10
June 16, 2025 at 11:16 AM
The fascists will not stop until they're stopped. Things will keep getting worse as they shred what's left of society in the years to come. Every day they rule, more people's lives will be ruined. /9
June 16, 2025 at 11:16 AM
The US is now in a hybrid state: national democracy has crumbled without resistance, a dictatorship has been formed but isn't fully in control yet, and most of the country is still in denial. /8
June 16, 2025 at 11:15 AM
It will take more than monthly rallies. Many people seem to think they can wait until elections, that after the fascists lose votes they'll simply slink away in defeat. This is lunacy. /7

There's optimism in the air after the protests. People are saying, "we have the numbers, we can win." But the protesters have gone home, and the regime is still in power. /6

"Negroes will be hunted at the North, and held and flogged at the South so long as they submit to those devilish outrages, and make no resistance, either moral or physical... If we ever get free from the oppressions and wrongs heaped upon us, we must pay for their removal. /4

"Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted... The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress. /3

"This struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one...but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. /2
