City of Alexandria refugee. Also social media refugee and not sure if this is the platform for me or not.
I was hoping to see something actionable here, alas, no.

I'm just the messenger, a rando civilian with no authority, power, or influence. It is not clear to me that the Democrats have any constructive actions at their disposal, not with such feckless leadership and no meaningful movement in public opinion. Do I like it? Not one bit.

The Democrats have definitely been caught flat-footed at the pace and scale of the destruction. I don't know that the country as we know it is recoverable, but there is plenty of precedent demonstrating that performative action like filing pointless motions is counterproductive.

Who wouldn't want to see the Ted Nugent Revue? How about a Beach Boys residency featuring Mike Love?
February 8, 2025 at 1:25 AM
It is a politically delicate situation, as I'm sure you can imagine. There is no reason to believe that filing a motion that is DOA would have any positive impact. This isn't like Korea – the people who care about the administration's illegal activity don't have the numbers to do anything about it.

Jerome and Gill?

Beyer is on the record as saying that filing articles of impeachment is above his paygrade at this time. This is a matter for Jeffries.

Trump has gone to great lengths to ensure that only true believers get the nomination in his party. There are few if any flexible candidates left.

Because Trump controls the authorities empowered to do so.

We're already at Constitutional collapse. Invoking the Insurrection Act does nothing to change that.

Requires both email and phone number? 😠

Not sure, but I don't think either Hunter or Brogdon are playing tonight.

Here is my letter to the editor that Alexandria Times declined to publish. My previous letter from 10 years ago is here: alextimes.com/opinion/your...?

That's your question? Federal law has been followed at no point in this process. Everything from Elon's insertion as federal chancellor on down has violated federal law. Slightly more than half of Congress has cheered it on while the others have dithered. That's why it is Constitutional collapse.

This is the kind of trip I'd like to think Amtrak could handle but practically speaking, doesn't.
February 7, 2025 at 9:03 PM
The Democrats have done a lousy job explaining the organization's value to the public. Outside the party's echo chamber, public perception of USAID specifically and international aid/development/soft power in general is sharply negative. A sampling of what I've seen over the last week...

Sorry, this is delusional given the current federal environment. In the real world, no one is putting up 10 figures for this, at least not anytime soon. We'll be doing well to sustain Metro at current levels a year from now.

It's a stock photo, but to me it represents a Martin.
February 7, 2025 at 5:11 PM
What authorities? Everyone not perceived as loyal to Trump has been cleansed from federal law enforcement. That's probably the #1 reason we are currently a failed state. The separation of powers is completely broken.

You two scored with Power Rankings #2.

What I'm hearing is that the game is good but that the UI is bad so I should wait for patches or modders to fix it before buying.

Under normal circumstances, the bird flu would be front page news.

If we had a constitution, I would support a constitutional amendment banning autocorrect.

It isn't over but you're running out of time fast.
