I think it's less that they're stupid (tho most of them definitely are) and more that they're all trying to enrich and personally vindicate themselves as much as possible, rather than working towards an actual political goal. It's a government of grifters

I think in largest part this is a consequence of Trump himself. He has no vision, various factions of the GOP have been using him to enact their own interests since 2016. We have dozens of horrific actors wielding his power to do horrific things, but no actual plan or coordination between them

fundamentally, it seems like these people had no plan for what to do with power once they got it. If our fascists had their eye on the ball like they do in some other countries, they probably could've suspended elections and arrested the opposition by now and that'd have been it

Rewatching Rogue One after Andor is so lowkey insulting, you have all these characters who we have watched grow from broken, traumatized outsiders into rebel heroes, but apparently what they really need is Jyn Erso to tell them that they need to fight and hope or whatever

The problem with Rogue One is that all the supporting cast are good, solid characters but the movie is led by a block of styrofoam who's only even here because her dad was grown in a vat under Space Mountain to fix a plot hole that never even existed in the first place

yeah this isn't rigorous at all, but surely we can agree that federal poverty benchmarks are too low, though? like, I make $44k a year and just supporting myself is a struggle. the idea that a family of four with my income isn't considered impoverished is insane to me

yeah when I read this headline I assumed they were taling abt some tiny island with like 50 people living on it, not an island with 87,000 residents. Also feel like they're burying the lede that these guys were producing CP, which feels like the more relevant offense here ngl

this is definitely exceptional misconduct, but what i have learned from working with the legal system is that *most* lawyers are shockingly bad at their jobs
