In Super Mario Galaxy, the stars on the letters of the logo spell "u r mr gay", while for the movie it says "he mr gay". This is because you are watching Mario, not playing him.

In the #SNES #TomandJerry game, you only ever swim in a very short and easy section in the final non-boss level where you enter the aquarium that can be completed in less than 30 seconds. It's unusual that a mechanic would be implemented only for this, suggesting more was planned. #retrogaming

In Super Mario Sunshine, the insides of buildings are floating above the regular levels. The transition is usually seamless, never letting the player find out. However, under specific circumstances, the illusion can be shattered by Mario looking up at the room's true position.

In the Switch version of Super Mario RPG, Mallow is bad at dancing. His dance is very slightly out of sync with the other characters, which becomes more and more noticeable the longer the player stays on the level-up screen. Whether this is deliberate or an oversight is unknown.

For an unknown reason, Mario & Luigi: Brothership uses up space storing identical, but separate copies of music tracks for each area they play in. For example, the files contain 6 identical copies of the "Subjugation" music, which take up over 22 megabytes total.

The kiosk demo version of Mario Kart DS contains an unused item that appears as the user's own face on the bottom screen. Using yourself as an item crashes the game.

At some points during Mario & Luigi: Brothership, Mario and Luigi have a friendly coin collecting competition. During this, a rare glitch can occur whereby Luigi's score fails to display properly and HTML-like style tags become visible around it. This only happens to Luigi.

Super Mario Odyssey contains unused data for a cut "mechanic NPC" that would have lived on the Odyssey and maintained the ship. Unfortunately, the only existing image of this NPC is this extremely blurry screenshot from Nintendo development materials.

Normally, only Bowser can fight Dark Mechawful enemies in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. If Mario and Luigi are made to fight them, their attack becomes agonizingly slow, taking 4 and a half minutes to finish and give control back to the player.

By complete coincidence, a sample comic from WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase appears to be notably close in its plot to popular online game Among Us, featuring an imposter among astronauts and the verbatim use of the phrase "among us", a decade before that game was released.

A piece of concept art in the Art of Super Mario Odyssey book is overlaid with the text "Note: Relief is temporary." While it actually refers to the fact that the design of the relief carving is not finished, it inadvertently appears to make an existential statement instead.
