Dammit, that was supposed to have a photo
“Parody of the Killing of the Nue,” 1798 woodblock by Kitagawa Utamaro. The woodblock is of a mother holding up a burning taper to observe her young son (who has the middle of his head shaved) smashing a rat with a block? Trapping it under a box? At any rate, he’s doing something with a cube of some sort that has a rat tail sticking from under it. The image has a manga/comic-like insert window showing the killing of the Nue (some kind of chimera creature with a lion head and a snake for a tail?).
