After a detour through UK customs, it’s finally here! A fitting finale to a to a journey that began with long discussions about the cross-boarder flows of goods.

Halloween began as Samhain in Ireland, when the veil between this world and the "otherworld" thinned. In Co. Roscommon, this cave 👇 called Uaimh na gCat was said to open on Samhain allowing the spirits to walk freely among the living. 👻

The political atmosphere in California feels more charged than I’ve ever seen it. From “No King” protests to Homeland Security's “self-deport” campaign, tensions are high. With the Prop 50 redistricting vote approaching and Obama campaigning for the Yes side, the state’s political climate is tense.

#TombTuesday In Roscommon Ireland, this portal tomb is known as Tinnacarra ("Stone of Fire") or Ballynanultagh Dolmen. It has strikingly tall portal stones (~2.4 metres) . Estimated to date from between 4200 BC and 2900 BC.

If this price differential for a high-street brand skirt is due to US #tariffs, it suggests a tariff pass-through rate of 100%, controlling for the exchange rate. But of course, there could be other factors at play.

Yesterday was World Ocean Day. Over 50% of high seas fishing would be unprofitable at its current scale w/out government subsidies. But progress is possible. After 20 years of negotiations, WTO Members agreed to limit fisheries subsidies. Here's how it happened:

Managed to live here for nearly two decades without attending a cricket match. A sunny day at The Oval was a very nice initiation.

Facing +125% US tariffs, how will China respond? Devaluating the yuan could benefit producers but would hurt Chinese consumers.

Trump's tariffs will hurt American consumers. So too will the weaker US dollar.

Despite the 5am start, it was great to be on BBC Business News this morning. Key points:

1. Steel tariffs won’t bring back jobs or create new ones.

2. Trump's actions create huge uncertainty.

3. Other countries will struggle to inflict significant economic pain on the US because of its size.
