Closing the loop on a donations promise. I committed to donate $2 per book sold, when I sell author copies of my poetry book, Attic Rain, at events. Poetry isn't a giant money-maker, but I'm glad to share some of the proceeds with others.
Proof of $40 donation to Miskanawah in support of "where my donation is most needed." The email reads, "Dear Samantha, Oki/Tansi/Aaniin/Hello! Thank you for your generous contribution to Miskanawah. Because of your donation, thousands of children, youth, and families will safely grow strong in their communities through language, culture, and ceremony. Hiy Hiy!"

Feeling quite angry this morning. Sometimes being empathetic amidst western capitalism feels crazy-making. I am furious at our cowardly and selfish leaders and at the overabundance of apathy. But people give me hope. Workers give me hope. Children give me hope. 1/2

Sometimes dreams do come true. I’ve loved books and bookstores and libraries since I was a wee kiddo, and I dreamed that one day maybe I could make something that would be on the shelves. Grateful and proud to be an author and editor with two book babes 🤩📚
