It looks like the game is still in the early stages. A lot of pawn moves, but I think that might have been more common in #medieval #chess.
And the engine says that white as a tiny bit of an advantage.

What a cute #dragon in the #margins of the #medieval #manuscript BnF Fr. 2810 from 1410/1412, which belonged to John the Fearless.

I just found this beautiful illustration of "Pygmies" going to war with the cranes in the #Cosmographia by #SebastianMünster from 1550.
He would be one of the last persons to follow the #medieval tradition regarding the "Pygmies".

Two #chess players in the beautifully illustrated #manuscript MS. Bodl. 264. (fol. 145v). Their game seems to be as interesting as the current #chessworldchampionchip.

This is one of my favorite illustrations in the Nuremberg Chronicle by Hartmann Schedel of 1493. It shows a small man fighting storks. They belong to the monstrous humanoids that are said to inhabit the farthest corners of the world.
