If you haven't seen it, Odds Against Tomorrow is a truly unique film. Approaches racism in ways unique to films from the 50s.

At least maybe he'll burn his hand on the light bulb.

Used the first 30 seconds from "Jupiter" for my courses decades ago in television production, especially when working on news broadcasts.

Expecting life to provide a "kind of paradise" is a fool's philosophy. This is a place of testing, with Joy as a quiet inducement to stick it out. Working hopefully to achieve as much justice and mercy as we can is our responsibility, but as long as we think we're owed Eden, we'll never succeed.

It's a Sinclair station - what else would you expect?

Implausible deniability.

As someone once said: "Cynicism is intellectual cowardice."

I think so, at least not from a class action. Attorney friend recommended I look up "Bivens" for why, but I haven't had a chance to get there other than that SCOTUS gutted Bivens over the last 20 years.

You could, but I understand that it would be limited to either injunctive relief (stops the practice) or declaratory relief (court says the practice is unlawful). Which still wouldn't be a bad thing...

Yes, that is the endgame.

Important too were his comments about how when people are struggling to stay "above water", they don't have the energy/focus to work together to maintain our democratic principles. By strengthening our quality of life, we will in turn strengthen our democracy.

Performative adolescence. immaturity as policy.

And also stick to following the "Jante Law".

Especially since this administration is full of little Robespierres.
December 2, 2025 at 5:22 PM
Then I recommend "An Assassin in Utopia" by Susan Wels - the backstory is even more bizarre and heart-breaking.

He's not even trying to propagandize it with his shrinking base (or anyone else). Lincoln was right: "Public sentiment is everything... without it, nothing can succeed." He's useless and delusional.

How many of us would be willing to wear a full uniform symbolic of our credo? Wedded with civil action/disobedience, that would get their attention, since they're the ones used to using uniforms to justify their abuses.

Gee - y' think?

U.S. Navy Adm. Frank “Mitch" Bradley, head of U.S. Special Operations Command, made sure the second strike was carried out. So much for disobeying illegal orders...
