As a high school then college math instructor, I hate the phrase improper fraction because it is the preferred answer every time, but the word improper gives it a negative connotation. The only time a mixed number is helpful is as a final answer to a word problem, and decimals are much more common.

I was so confused with your post that I waited until others posts were made, because of course the hypotenuse of every triangle exactly lines up as the leg of the next one. 🤣 But I get it now.
