Thank you, but that is largely the merit of Unity's cinemachine and smooth damping functions

Hopefully the calculations are correct. I plan to add it soon to our open-source library of astrodynamical calculations and if something's wrong people will point it out!

Thx! In this scene we aren't simulating the whole solar system at realistic scale. The scene is separate. So essentially we are calculating the positions of the celestial bodies that should be visible and mapping them to directions around the sky, at the correct size. All calculations are in double.

Indeed, that will be one of the main aspects of the game. But no spoilers just yet!

And yes, the game is going to be pretty "hard" sci-fi. So no FTL travel or communication. Not sure yet "how fast" you will be able to by researching new technologies- if fractions or close to c. So that means a trip could take 1000s of years and who knows what would happen on Earth in that timescale

Thanks, in the context of the game humanity is extinct and as a last ditch this AI is activated with the task of finding a new habitable planet.

So everyone's dead 😅 but it's necessary to keep the scope of the game feasible by a small team. Without humans there is no need to simulate that aspect.
