Although some practitioner voices are represented (primarily through the involvement of subject leads from multi-academy trusts), there is relatively little input from subject associations or researchers with expertise in areas such as emergent writing, spelling development, and the role of talk.
The new Writing Framework from the DfE marks a significant moment in the conversation around writing pedagogy in England. Its publication invites considered reflection—not only on its specific content, but on the broader values & assumptions that underpin it. englishassociation.ac.uk/the-eas-resp...

Re-reading DfE's seemingly ever-more-controversial Writing Framework. Includes this unfootnoted statement: "Because children learn to read more quickly than they learn to spell, it is important that their reading must not be held back by whether they can spell accurately" What?

I contributed to @ioe.bsky.social #thankateacherday today. I thanked my PhD supervisor for teaching me to take a leap without knowing the answer.... giving up everything to travel to the US to do a PhD... and teaching me how to be a researcher
Today, IOE marks Thank a Teacher Day with letters to standout teachers in our lives – celebrating the educators and support staff who have transformed lives with their practice, care and support. Thank you, to all the teachers out there! #WeAreIOE

📖 Educators had clear insights into supporting students post-pandemic, but their expertise was often overlooked, argue @alicebradbury.bsky.social, Gemma Moss, and @sineadh.bsky.social. Read more:
