There is not a soul in this room who feels he should be passed by the Champion of Kirkwall in favor of an elf. That's likely why Mikael is making such a show, not allowing anyone to assume Mikael doesn't care about him. Fenris is completely incapable of keeping himself from smiling back, just a little, when he takes the other man's hand. It's familiar and warm when it wraps around his own. "I'm not good at dancing." "You say that like it will change how much I want to dance with you." Mikael replies, laughing a little. The way his blue eyes crinkle around the edges makes Fenris' heart race. He will never get used to having this man look at him like that. As if he is the central point of his entire world. Fenris is aware that he rather is, but it never feels real and even so, he finds himself light as air in delight as Mikael takes his hand and pulls him not unwillingly onto the dance floor. "Remember that if I step on your feet." Fenris retorts while pressed chest to chest with his lover, all eyes in the room on them. Maybe not all, if he's being realistic, but he knows how many eyes have been following Mikael all evening and it is not a small amount. He can only imagine they are watching them both now. The fact that it will irritate them that Mikael is dancing with him pleases him a great deal despite not admitting it. However, he can tell from the twinkle in Mikael's blue eyes that the man knows. And that he's just as amused as Fenris is.

Charlie Swan would never say that he is the smartest man in the world or even among those considered close, that kind of title is reserved for far better man than him. The kind of men who didn't make the stupid, idiotic, reckless mistakes he made and had for the better part of the over three decades he had been alive. On most days he could hardly count any decision he had made that didn't result in bitter regret lingering on his tongue like sour bile. Yet, he continues to make stupid ass decisions anyway despite even the best friend he's ever had cautioning him rather clearly against it. You see, Charlie has a problem and one might think that the problem was the bottle of whiskey on the table, half empty and the alcohol on his breath. It's not uncommon for a man to have a drinking problem, but that's not his problem. The drink is only there because it's a common premade dumbass decision before he makes the bigger one. Which is a phone call.
