Last time I checked, even people on the terrorist watch list can legally buy guns. Because background checks are boring.

Aren't the gun registration archives with the federal government still purely on paper because NRA fought against digital records? Will take longer to look up the owner.

Oh, he wanted to build it ON TOP of the ground. Just to make sure the near vacuum 400 mile long pipe will expand and contract all the time.

At least California is not known for earth quakes. Those would be bad too.

The Hyperloop idea (which is hilariously impractical at best, if not directly impossible) came because he wanted to killed the California high speed rail. Probably because he wants people to buy Tesla instead.

So he doesn't really care about the environment either.

Or his complete incompetence. Somehow he had built himself an image of being a great scientist, engineer and visionary. He's none of these.

Other companies do EVs, self driving cars, AI and robots better and cheaper. Don't even get me started on the 'Hyperloop' 🤣

They did it for their own profit. But Elon Musk seems to have messed up the government for narcissistic reasons: he thinks he's smarter than everyone else.

But he doesn't seem to realise that the government he supports doesn't support his business of EVs. They want fossil fuels.

I've read the region of Schleswig-Holstein was trying it out ok 30k computers in the regional government. The entire German government didn't switch to LibreOffice.

Plus, just switching to open source solutions, doesn't make it safer. You still need the expertise to make and keep it safe.

Oh okay, “The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun"?

I only know it as a SaaS, not that you can use the same code on your own server. But if you use it as a SaaS, then we don't know how their code looks like.

I wrongly assumed "I don't know the onion" was literally you not knowing the media outlet.

I just noticed you're holding a gun in your profile. Isn't that counterproductive of your stance of not normalizing violence?

It's a satire newspaper which has existed since 1988. They use satire as a mirror to the real world to show how ridiculous it is.

They are not normalizing anything.

Working in a huge corporation, there is a need (for resilience purposes) to have alternatives. But for larger organizations, I'm not aware of any good alternatives to Microsoft.

Being a Mac user for 25 years, it hurts me to say this.

Even Microsoft Office works better on a Mac 🤣

Isn't the CEO a Trump supporter?

Interesting. I thought his audience was super skeptical of the government tracking their health.

I use Ollama with Open WebUI. Gives a lot more control.

It's not really down from 25%. It's still up 15% points from just a few months ago.

I treat my banking app like a game. I need to hit zero as fast as I can.

Nej, jeg tror tjekkere tænker mere på 1968.

I think we recognize this as a "Poland in 1939" situation. We should have done more in 2014 - which I see as a "Czechoslovakia in 1938" situation. A lot of similarities between Putin and Hitler's way of invading and justification for it.

I've been thinking of prepping for a while now: have cash, water, food etc. Now I might actually do it 😬
