I'm here for the energy memes.
I'm not a Georgian, but I've done a lot of work in the state over the past 10 years. If you want the real story on the ground, I'd be happy to point folks to the locals grinding it out.

The PSC recently brought in consulting firm Bates White to examine the numbers and assess whether or not Mississippi benefits from staying in MISO.

The result? Mississippi benefits from staying in MISO. southernrenewable.org/news-updates...

At #FRISymposium2025 today in Columbia, Missouri. The theme is Field of Dreams. Lots of state regulators from all over the country. Great group of dedicated public servants working on reliability and cost savings.

New Tech: trend, or hype? Does it follow the high cost/niche application to low cost/ubiquitous trend for technology growth rates? Here's solar as an example. Tesla's "Master Plan" follows this. It's why I'm skeptical of near-term SMR's that aren't on the moon/military ships.

So concludes my trip to the Southeast Energy Exchange Market. It was pretty hot, so supply evaporated, but I still made a match!

ok energy nerds, let's talk cost of new entry (CONE)
at some point, gas peakers may be more expensive than batteries, as CONE goes UP, what sort of downstream effects can we reasonably anticipate? (these CONE prices seem wildly optimistic at this point)

This is MISO's active generator interconnection queue. Only 4 types of power station will get built in the next 5 years: gas, wind, solar, batteries.Gas is only 33 GW in the queue. No one is planning on big new coal. Nukes are a blip (Duane Arnold restart in Iowa).

5kWh for $1700 (minus 30% tax credit, or $1190 final price) is quite good. Anyone found a better deal?
July 9, 2025 at 7:52 PM
There are FOUR power generation technologies that can get built in the next 5-10 years. Wind, solar, batteries, natural gas. Most of the planned additions are wind, solar, batteries. We NEED this power to run our growing economy, otherwise we'll stagnate and cede the future.
