Wishing all my American family and friends a very happy Thanksgiving today.
In 1953, food business Swanson was left with a huge surplus of turkeys. Inspired by the airline industry, they turned the turkey into packed pre-prepared meals and the first ‘TV dinner’ was born.

I love this ad for Blue Band margarine, likely from the 1920s. The brand was originally Dutch, developed by Van den Bergh and introduced into the UK in 1916 as the war created huge demand for butter substitutes. As the ad states, it's "Just like best butter".
