Ari (now a bit more bloodied and beaten up) looks back in shock as Alex suddenly slices the creature's head off. Panel 1: The other creatures look at the head of one of the packmates. Orange ooze drips from the flesh of the neck. Panel 2: Ari stands over Alex, who's kneeling down and leaning on her front leg for support. Her wings are flared open and she growls protectively. Panel 3: The creatures retreat. Panel 1: Alex is breathing heavily, looking tired. Panel 2: Ari whines and attempts to press her muzzle against him. He lightly pushes back with a hand. Alex: I-I'm okay, Ari... Panel 3-5: Ari notices something shiny within the carcass of the creature. It shines an aqua-blue. Panel 1-3: Ari breathes onto the object. It's a circular black stone amulet with a gray rope. It also has a blue-green swirl pattern with 3 dots. She carefully picks it up with a single claw. Panel 4-5: Ari hears a thump and suddenly looks back. Alex has collapsed.

Panel 1: Alex suddenly looks up, one hand now clutching his head. The voice yells “WATCH OUT!” Panel 2: Another creature lunges at him. The bulbous form can be seen glowing from the skull’s open jaws. Panel 3: Ari quickly transforms to her beastial form and clamps her jaws around the creature’s neck. Panel 1: Ari stands her ground in the foreground. One of the skeletal creature struggles to stand and another one comes into the frame from the right. Panels 2-3: The creatures hiss and Ari snarls back. Panels 4: Alex struggles to focus as the disembodied voice talks to him. "This should be reflex and instinct for you. Their necks are exposed." Panel 5: The voice continues: "What are you doing?! You are both going to die here. You don't even know you've done this before. You're letting the beast fight the beast hunter's fight." The text nearly overlays with Alex's speech bubble where he mutters Ari's name. Ari is also about to fight the creatures. Panels 1-4: Various shots of Ari fighting the beasts. One bites her leg, she kills one of them by swiping her claws against its chest and another by crushing its skull, and another one of the creatures latches onto her wing. The voice continues now being more intense: "WEAKEN THEM FIRST. SEVER THE TENDONS. YOU WERE GIVEN A WEAPON FOR A REASON. YOU WERE GIVEN A WEAPON FOR A REASON." Panels 5-7: Alex now has his karambit in hand, now trembling from adrenaline. One of the creatures lunges. The final Panel is a closeup of Alex, eyes focused and now a glowing purple instead of blue. "BECOME A MECHANISM OF SLAUGHTER."

This is not normal on Earth, right? Panel 3: Alex: No it isn’t, and I don’t see another way around. Ari: I don’t even want to know what happened here. Panels 1-3: Alex hears a disembodied voice. At first it says “Not alone.” and “Turn around.” It suddenly shouts at him “BEHIND YOU!” And he suddenly gets a painful migraine. Panel 2: Ari: Alex? What’s wrong? She is suddenly startled too by his sudden reaction. Panel 3: Ari: Alex! Talk to me! Ari crouches down next to Alex who collapses on his knees. He’s still clutching his head.
