we do not know for sure he's a nazi sympathizer. those people don't usually conceal that fact about themselves. and like you said, it's become so accepted on in GOP circles that you don't even need to hide it anymore

if you don't believe his story, fine. But it's a plausible explanation!

exactly, and that does matter. whether he is honest about who he is today is a bit up in the air, but i say give him a chance and we will do something about him later if he proves to be a problem

you keep restating the bit about the tattoo as though I'm unaware of the gravity - i get it. i hate nazis. they game for gays and queers first. You don't need to lecture me on how bad the nazis were.

But it's a fucking tattoo, not government policy signed into law

local progressives do not like Mills. She has genuinely held conservative positions and has acted on them. For 8 years.

So, rather take a chance with the person who appears to agree with me and my priorities more, rather than the person that doesn't.
December 4, 2025 at 7:26 AM
what's there to "come clean about" regarding the tattoo? his story has been the same. he got it covered up a few days after that news broke. i am willing to let that go and roll the dice with him against Collins 1) because Mills is a weak candidate and 2) because I trust her even less.
December 4, 2025 at 7:26 AM
historically proponents of the filibuster have not given up that particular game easily, so i'm gonna hit X to doubt on that one.
December 4, 2025 at 7:22 AM
right because in office he's totally going to call for the US to reform the Waffen-SS. totally.

one of these things is tangible and has a clear and direct impact. the other is a moral disagreement about his judgement on a tattoo.

PTSD is permanent. you cannot just treat it - you can only manage it
December 4, 2025 at 7:16 AM
how can you trust someone to protect our loved ones that expresses support for the fucking filibuster? like, come on. in order for me, my fiance, and your child to be truly equal, that shit *needs* to go!
December 4, 2025 at 7:12 AM
yes, this is my exact position
December 4, 2025 at 7:10 AM
are you seriously accusing me of being sexist because i dared to criticize the woman who went all "I want to keep a version of the filibuster that doesn't exist"?

Also, we can play the oppression olympics game all you want, but you need to walk the walk on trans stuff, not just talk.
December 4, 2025 at 7:10 AM
i can buy that war fucks you up and that he hadn't climbed out of the hole until after that, though.
December 4, 2025 at 7:08 AM
honestly i think kennedy should come back and run against both of them
December 4, 2025 at 6:57 AM
polling might be slanted but i don't think the Mills camp was able to cook polls where she convincingly won, no?

but Platner's camp *has*, so that's not nothing, despite not being the level we typically expect data to rise to
December 4, 2025 at 6:56 AM
mass is bluer than maine, so we'll see. and Markey isn't Janet
December 4, 2025 at 6:55 AM
hell i think she's even weaker than *we* would have guessed
December 4, 2025 at 6:53 AM
also think the chances of someone dropping out of Gov and switching to Senate are.... well, pretty fuckin low

the time to execute that switch was before Mills got in. and with RCV they do not have a ton of incentive to consolidate!
December 4, 2025 at 6:53 AM
without a voting record to go off of, this seems like theater criticism. he is saying most of the right things and he at least appears to mean them

(also he *does* get his healthcare through the VA. and has been open and honest about that. so... hardly some total faker?)
December 4, 2025 at 6:52 AM
everyone else passed/ran for Governor and there aren't that many people in Maine
December 4, 2025 at 6:47 AM
the problem with "generic liberal aged 50" is that that person does not actually exist
