Carriage Driver, ex-Cop, ex-Scientist, yeah it's a weird resume.
Newport, RI, the best little city in the best little state.
Every religion has sects, and all the sects have sects and so on.
The amazing thing is how the Roman Catholic Church has managed to keep so many disparate sects under one messy umbrella.
Of course one or two groups spin off every so often.

I suspect ubiquitous robotaxis will encourage people to use a wider variety of transportation because we will not have the same financial and emotional commitment to our cars that we do now.
Once you own a car it actually discourages you from using other modes.

Trump has always accused others of the crimes he is committing. It is a depressingly effective tactic.
Now some of the nitwits he conned are realizing, 'Hey, Trump is doin' that stuff!!'
Progress, I guess?

The current party primary system practically requires you to win a primary to win the election, with very rare exceptions.
The only way to change that is to get rid of party primaries. As a few places have.

These people are psychopaths who do not care about their subordinates any more than they care about Venezuelan sailors.
Any member of the military who thinks Hegseth or Trump are going to take responsibility for anything is not paying attention.

West Virginia is an extreme example of voters consistently voting against their own self interests.
For the past 20 years they have picked a fantasy about going back to the 'good old days' over real progress.

Bicyclists are ruining the roads. Mexicans are ruining the economy. Gays are ruining marriage. Young people are ruining coffee. Atheists are ruining Christmas.
All of MY problems are because OTHER PEOPLE are not like me.
Scapegoating is not new, but Trump has raised it to an art form.

It seems investors are increasingly divided into the 'new productivity revolution' crowd and the 'house of cards' crowd.
Unfortunately, I find the 'house of cards' view more plausible.

Yes.
Cars (and motorcycles and trucks) are great, for some use cases.
Using cars for EVERYTHING is what makes them terrible.

Do you mean to imply that other people ARE taught this stuff?
Educating everybody is a noble goal, but difficult at best. The more practical method to balance the playing field is labor unions. Unions give workers the access to information and professional advice that management takes for granted.

AI is currently losing buckets of money and nobody knows which companies are going to eventually profit, if any.
Nothing wrong with speculation, but like the .com bubble it has gotten way way ahead of reality.

Trump and his minions want a civil war.
As per war starting SOP, they are totally confident of an easy, swift victory.

Two people who like drama enjoying some drama.
I don't understand it, but then again I don't understand why anyone would go to Disney.

The internet is becoming better and better at telling us what we want to hear and in most cases we want to hear what we already believe.
When I first used Mosaic I was not at all sure what would come of the World Wide Web, but a tool for promoting ignorance was not on my list.

Just because I'm a whiffle,
I compared Kelly's photo with the 'Navy Awards Precedence Chart' and the medals that are visible (he has allot) are in proper order.
So......drunk again?

Are there any other cases where a CEO took a promising start up, turned it into a legitimately successful company, and then turned that into an even more successful fraud, while the underlying company collapsed?

The actual opinion is more entertaining.
About as snide as judges get.

During the government shutdown I (a 59 year old registered Democrat in a deep blue area) got targeted ads telling me about the $50K bonuses for new ICE hires.
Wasting my money to remind me they are wasting my money, while they are not providing the services I care about.
Great job!

'Ignorantia juris non excusat'
Is one of the most basic legal principals.
Parents usually phrase it something like: 'Would you jump off a bridge if Johnny told you to?'

King Bone-Spurs is going to go to try to court-martial an actual f**cking astronaut.
Good. Beclowning himself as usual.

So billions are being spent to provide a 'service' that jerky teenagers have been providing for free since the dawn of time.
Cool.
