L1 for assist and x for dash worked out pretty well for me.
The hard part is just NOT going back when you hit the wrong button constantly.
If I could take dash macro off and have assist on both x and L1, I would.

I need to experiment more tho. i tend to try a new method for like ten minutes, then give up. I don't usually deviat from default controls in fighting games, but in 2xko, I put assist on L1 and dash macro on X (ps5)
It took time to adjust but assists feel much more intuitive
