The "Combo B" is the greatest value in food anywhere around, as long as you're around here. It's like 8 LBS. of goodness. Enough for like 3 meals. They have to stand on the Styrofoam clamshell thing like they're packing for a 3 month trip to close it.

I own a total of 3 films in 4K. A Clockwork Orange, Citizen Kane, and Piranha (I always have to look up the spelling).

One day I'll be rich enough to buy a 4K TV, and Player.

Started buying Blu Rays, only a couple years ago, and used DVD's are still my jam.

Heads up to all my tortilla chip lovers. I just found out about Don Julio chips. No the cheapest, like $4.50 a 16 oz. bag, but light crispy and the "Lightly seasoned" bag was really good. No sponsor, etc... I'm a salty snack guy. Sweets, not for me.

I added a very small flipbook to my first book, and didn't do it to the others. Now on my 7th book, I'm bringing it back.

Newspaper scan about the 1979 horror film Phantasm If you're not scared, you're already dead By BOB THOMAS HOLLYWOOD (AP) Unique among film company presidents, William Chaikin once toiled in the studios as a press agent. And he's proud of it. When I first knew Chaikin, he was publicizing Betty Grable's legs and other major assets of 20th CenturyFox. For a period, he dropped out of the industry and went straight. Then he returned as publicist for the indominable showman Joseph E. Levine. After Levine had sold his Embassy Pictures to Avco Corp., Chaikin assumed the presidency. He runs Avco Embassy as a tight operation, managing to compete with the industry giants. Expectably, Chaikin's product is well-exploited. "Hey, I'm feeling like a press agent again," he said on the telephone the other day., "I want you to see a stunt we're going to pull in Westwood Saturday midnight." The ad appeared in the Saturday papers promising, "If this one doesn't scare you, you're already dead." It was a sneak preview of "Phantasm," the third film by the precocious Don Coscarelli. He is the Long Beach lad who made his first movie at 18; it was released by Universal as "Jim, The World's Greatest." A crowd lined 'round the block at the theater in Westwood long before midnight. They were mostly young, many of them UCLA students, all waiting to be scared. "Phantasm" seemed to give them what they wanted. Though several leagues from Hitchcock, it contained enough errant corpses, eerie settings and weird happenings to keep the screams coming. Central figures are a teen-age boy and his footloose older brother; they investigate the curious happenings at the Morningside Mortuary. One of the scare tactics is created by a large silver ball, equipped with daggers, which roams the crypts in search of victims. At the climax of the movie came Chaikin's stunt: a replica of the daggered ball appeared over the audience in a ghostly spotlight. Pandemonium. "The response was good, but it will be better," analyzed Chaikin, after the test. "The stunt came at the end of the show, which was a mistake; we'll do it earlier. We'll make the ball three times bigger and cover it with mirrors, so it will reflect the spotlight like those things in ballrooms. "We're calling it VisuaRama, and we're going to put it in a hundred theaters. Drive-ins? No way." Chaikin admitted that he had to give credit for the.. gimmick to an old friend, the late William Castle. Through the 1940s and 1950s, he made a series of lowbudget scare movies such as "The House on Haunted Hill." "The Tingler," "Strait Jacket" and "Let's Kill Uncle." He hyped the product by floating luminous skeletons over the audience or equipping the seats with electric charges. More recently, Universal Pictures introduced SensSurround to give audience a feeling of participation in such films as "Earthquake" and "Midway." "These things help add excitement to movies," observed Chaikin, "but there really hasn't been a revolutionary change in film technique since the ; advent of sound. " "The next big change will be holography three-' dimensional movies without glasses," he said.
