But there’s more at play here. Even with facts presented in a logical manner, often times the control group will go against their interests. It’s more based, psychological.
The rational mind is overridden by emotion.
That’s what we have to overcome.

A month I can get away with spending only $1,000 on groceries
I haven’t spent under $1,000 since probably about 2007.
There was 7 of us then, now 3 have grown and moved out.
My family is smaller - my food bill is not…

I recommend sturdier, more robust guardrails.
