Didn't notice til now that's a wide exit, which is interesting because the 1st Street side of the station does not have elevators. Do you take your bike up the escalators?

Coincidentally, I was just at Westlake/MacArthur Park where they still haven’t transitioned over to the new gates.

My bike is pretty big, but it’s light. I do see people take their bikes through the skinnier doors often, but probably less than half the time. A lot of people have e-bikes these days and those things are big and clunky.

Turns out it had everything to do with the fire code

Washington/Flower (A/E)
Arbor Vitae (K)
Mission/Meridian (A)
Main Street (AVL/VCL)
Crenshaw/Slauson (K)
Expo/Vermont (E)*

*Also rebuild station above grade to accommodate Vermont BRT and remove Expo/USC station.

That’s the wrong Throne app you are linking to, which is this one:

Now installed at the Temple St entrance.

This has happened to me a lot at B/D stations where only one of the entrances is ADA compliant, since I guess back in the day, that’s all that was mandated.
November 21, 2025 at 12:13 AM
I will say for Wilshire/Vermont being the station with the most ESG violations, that tracks due to the main entrance not being ADA accessible, so a lot of people are bringing their wheels only to find out they can’t even use the standard gates as they are too small, as I demonstrate here.

Apparently LAFD got a demonstration. Stole this from Reddit.

They are currently not operational, so my guess is they are waiting on it? Same with the Westlake/MacArthur Park gates, which are also eliminating the steel doors.

The other station is Westlake/MacArthur Park. bsky.app/profile/side...
New gates at Westlake/MacArthur Park which, to my surprise, are eliminating the steel emergency exit door.

I got these at Historic Broadway

Last year’s was better. I posted it and several of my trans friends wanted me to go get one for them.

No. It doesn’t light up. It’s just a sticker.

I'll bet a good chunk of that comes from the at-grade stations with no turnstiles or gates but simply podiums. They're easy to miss or ignore. I rarely see anyone tap at Pico despite it being the 7th most trafficked in the system.
