i used to not like bloc party's third album, but for some reason it's hitting really well rn. if you've written it off maybe give it a listen with fresh ears?

if you ask a midwesterner how they're doing, you'll get one of two responses:

"good" - encompasses everything from having a kind of bad day to the best day of their life
"alright" - they are in crisis and need immediate attention

I don't know how to do this. Help
Sometimes you have to roll up your sleeves and do the work yourself. (Overlaying Broken Social Scene's "Living in 85" with Charlie XCX's vocals from "i think about it all the time")

I've heard links get more traction here, so I'll give it a try. I recently took a break from my podcast called Zoned Out, a radical examination of urban politics and planning. In October we interviewed Tracy Rosenthal, co-author the fantastic new book Abolish Rent!

Politics is confrontation, but liberals don't like confrontation with the right on any issue. Ultimately, the liberal trans bashing of late is the conservative caricature of the college social justice warrior in 2015. This article is just a lot of words to say trans people are triggered
2. The latest discourse-evoking article by the New York Times features Jeremy Peters, who pushes that a "confrontational approach" is why trans rights fails.

He interviews several leading figures like Rodrigo Heng-Lehtinen and Mara Keisling, who seem to advance similar views.

so my overall lesson from being on twitter for a few months and social media generally since i was in higg school is to just not be on social media that much bc idk if there's a way it can be done where it doesn't still bring out those negative mental states for me. perhaps others can relate
on bluesky, the time/space compression is the same as the rest of the internet, but the content isn't alarming like it is on twitter. still, any social media feed can bring out anxiety, depression, and loneliness even if the posts aren't being made by nazis.
this website is a lot better than twitter. still, the internet compresses time and space in a way that makes every account on any platform seem like it's in the same room as you at the same time as you, or at least that's how it can feel to me.

9. Republicans won't stop with McBride, nor with sports bans, national bathroom bans, attacks on trans teens... their goal is not compromise, and no amount of capitulation will stop their assault.

Hate cannot be defeated through fear or focus groups or backroom deals—it demands courage.
