73% of those killed were men of fighting age. 27% were women and children - who are 75% of the Gaza population. This is from Hamas Health latest complete data release (September) which gives age and gender of every person killed.

So 29 Nov is the day of the second refusal of a partition and state for the Arabs - first being in 1939, from the Peel commission. That one allotted the Jews only 30% of the area of the Mandate, but they accepted it nonetheless. Arabs have never wanted a state, only wanted to deny the Jews one.

There were no Palestinians in those days, but on a nnouncement of the partition plan, th elocal Arabs & the Arab League immediately rejected it. The local Arabs started a civil war by bombing Jewish buses. The Arab League announced that 7 Arab nations would invade at the end of the Mandate period.
