Anti racist historian at Manchester Met and People’s History Museum. Views my own
This is a brilliant history from below by @grsbrown.bsky.social. The ANL had a defining impact on the contours of racism and anti-racism and was that rare thing, a success, defeating the National Front. Now more than ever we need to return to this history bookmarksbookshop.co.uk/product/a-pe...

Yes great I’ll write my public talk for Tuesday and prepare for my Tuesday lecture all on Monday, plenty of time. Who would have factored in a poorly toddler sent home from nursery?!

What a book! A gripping road trip through Black Britain, a rich study of culture and resistance outside of the trodden London stories. Out in April, this is one to read by @lanre-bakare.bsky.social

Lots of the class warriors who were entrusted by the British state to win the General Strike were key colonial figures. See also Herbert Samuel. But also on the TUC side, leaders like J H Thomas.

Reading about Charles Hardinge 1st Baron Hardinge of Penshurst, once Viceroy of India, who retired and led the Organisation for the Maintenance of Supplies, a 'volunteer' org which attempted to break the 1926 General Strike. He received six knighthoods in his life and in Delhi there's a huge statue.
