Bought a new keyboard to use in the office, and it's nice. Too nice. I want the full size version for home now!

Finally on the train home - the days are absolutely manic at the moment, nowhere near enough hours in them.

0756. I've been up for precisely one hour, having already delayed my train into the office by 30 minutes. I'm already looking forward to bedtime after a night of superfluously poor sleep. It's going to be a loooooooong day!

What a miserable morning. Only went to the end of the path for the milk, and I'm wetter than an otter's pocket!

Two pots of tea down, I suppose I'd better get up properly... Anyone for eggs and Scottish smoked salmon?

This evening's music selection to accompany the cooking of dinner, one of the greatest albums of all time, and inspired by @nickysee.bsky.social.

Dinner itself is a pasta bake of a basic tomato sauce, somewhere courgette, and a chicken breast.

You know it's been a good nap when wake two hours later than intended, slightly groggy and unable to remember your name...!

Today is the day: condemned stove out, new stove in.

First office visit of 2026 - here we go! Weather: raining. Train: short, on time, and full of so many sick people you'd think it was a mobile TB hospital. Pray for me!

I've got a Chicken Ruby in the simmering oven slow-cooking for our supper later. The whole house smells amazing! 🤤

Morning. I'll not say good as it's too early and I'm already back at my desk having left it precisely 12 hours ago as I've an hour to review an 80 page document to review before 9am. It's only Tuesday and I'm already done with this week!

After a somewhat trying day I fancied some nostalgic comfort so have settled down to watch the 1995 animated version of The Wind in the Willows. Beautifully illustrated, and the voice casting is perfect. Surprised that Alan Bennett hasn't gone to the playhouse on the sky!

Nothing for it: Toy Story 3, a pot of tea, and the biscuit tin is the only possible remedy for such a bleak day.

Can't even light the fire for a cosy sitting room as the new one, although ordered, hasn't been fitted yet. And the chimney still needs sweeping. Wishing I'd paid the sweep to do it when he condemned it...

What a dreich day. Tea made, bread out of the machine, I think I'll go back to bed and hibernate for a bit longer.

It's been a funny old day. No breakfast as was waiting for G to surface. By the time he did it was gone 1pm and I had to go out and run errands. Finally ate a 'snack' at half 3 which ended up being fairly substantial. Then a quick lie down at 5 turned into a 2-hr nap. Discombobulating!

Anybody else remember when the Radio 2 schedule was filled with actually experienced DJs, as opposed to celebrities and personalities desperately trying to stay relevant? Emma Willis sounds like they've got the work experience kid in to cover.

After an absolute hellish week, I've already done my only chore for the weekend (hang up the wet laundry) so I have the glorious prospect of two wholly empty days. Except I'm no good at being idle so I'll probably potter about, make some soup, go to the refillers...

They've just been, we were not too late after all! More anticipated than Father Christmas!
Reader: I was too late 😔
Since our bin day was changed two months ago, Fridays now begin with the new ritual of me pounding down two flights of stairs at half six to put the ruddy thing out having been awoken by the dulcet tones of the bin lorry.

I'd always assumed death was a certainty, but this headline seems to suggest it is not, in fact, guaranteed if you're heterosexual. Immortality for the win!

A variation on pork pad krapow for supper this evening - didn't fuck it up either!

Over to Middlewich today for lunch with G's family for our annual meet-up at Big Lock. Not as good as it used to be; think it might be our last.
Lovely drive back through the countryside, although you could feel the frost chasing us back home!
