a boy in a green shirt is standing in front of a love sign
Alt: A boy in a green shirt is trying out a toy by applying it to his own crotch and discovering, hey, it actually really hurts. He is the only one surprised.

Writer: "I finished the piece about the German farmer that came out as gay and started a farm for non-mating rams. Normally they get put down but he takes them in and raises money for LGBT charities with their wool."

Editor: *cracks knuckles*
"Gay, sheep, charity, wool. Got JUST the headline."

We have a little water bath just outside the front door the dogs have to paddle in to wash their feet first, then they wait to get their feet wiped clean inside. Some genius laid cream coloured carpet in our condo, so it's mandatory. The dogs think they're getting extra love, so it works out.

Were they in New West today staging their little tanty about "government overreach"? Oh boy, I am very glad I did not run across them.

CFIA got wind of them in the first place because someone (a fed up neighbour) anonymously reported sick/deceased animals out in the open. They sold meat and oil from their birds, so they definitely were not "family pets".

You're right, infuriating how much attention they've gotten.

I am very surprised media has been so delicate in its handling of them. They have a long history of fraud (court doc supported), legal issues, angry creditors, violations of a whole variety of laws and regulations around livestock management and care, etc. CFIA also reimburses for culled animals.

Too late- someone already tagged him in the comments in the original post, poor guy. I am hoping it brings him some very petty pleasure to tear the whole thing apart in his very creative and witty way now that he's been forced to look.

Really depends on the trigger-space,food,toy,etc. A single visit from a dog trainer would likely help figure it out and what the best solution might be. Every dog is different. A source of stress can bloom into a larger problem if not nipped in the bud. The shelter should have some resources for you

Heard you on the CBC's The Current this morning. Always a delight when you're a guest. Miss the days when you and Candy Palmatier had such great discussions about the intersection of sport and culture on CBC's Q on Fridays years ago.

Also, a twist in love interest and a cliffhanger ending, so everyone has to wait in appalled fascination for the next installment.

You could ask an outside trainer to come in and assess. They might know the right questions to ask the shelter about the snapping behaviour. Dogs in shelter situations behave differently than dogs in home situations too, so even if you didn't observe anything concerning, it might happen in the home

You just know there's a doll with a crocheted dress covering another toilet roll on the top of the toilet cistern.

She generated her own gravity, she was so huge in her presence online. A force for change and completely unapologetic in her anger about how disabled folk are treated. She absolutely refused helplessness. I so admired her intellect and ability to communicate.

I'd been looking under every log and in the more nature-y/forested areas of my town and not seeing them anywhere. Nope, they were in a pile of wood chips dumped right beside the sidewalk across the road from my house. Quite wee little things- the size of a pencil top or slightly larger. Good luck!
November 16, 2025 at 12:49 AM
Honestly, more common than you'd think. You just have to know it exists! I've found 2 different types so far. I started searching for it when I read about it without much luck. Bent down to tie my shoelaces next to a busy street and saw some in the woodchips dumped in front of someone's front walk.
