but there is another layer, by disassociating homophobia from straightness with the argument "if you were straight you wouldn't be virulent against gay people", you create the opening that "being straight is being secure and not homophobic", and this argument sometimes actually work on dimwits.

"blaming gay people for their own oppression" that is just bull, you have to be really backwards wired to get to that conclusion when the homophobia being performed is for the benefit of straight homophobes, they are not persecuting gays because they are gay, they are persecuting as christians.

ok, but counter argument, the staggering number of homophobic politicians and pastors being found fucking other man ... like, it is just empirical that a bunch of them are in fact gay and overcompensating with the homophobia to preempt accusations.
