I agree with Rashid Khalidi's formulation: the original founding was colonialism in some respects, but not entirely. But the West Bank settlements (and Gaza)? Pretty much straightforward colonialism, aggravated by the apartheid system of control.

His bit about kids rambling on and not saying anything was hilarious to me at the time. (My son was in the pilot of his show, as the weird kid whose mother can't discipline him. Role was recast for the actual series.)

In law school (1997), I wrote a paper about the controversial science underlying claims of injury from breast implants. I have not followed the medical research on this issue, but was troubled that the litigation was negatively impacting all medical uses of silicone. The law was affecting science.

Just heard Rabbi Jill Jacobs (of T'ruah, a human rights group for rabbis) say something similar: if you say you support a 2SS, what are you doing to bring about the conditions for that to happen? If the answer is "nothing," you don't really support it in any meaningful way.

Micah Lasher, likely challenger whom Nadler apparently favors, is Jewish, but not just occasionally, on his father's side. Don't know that this "Jewish security" crap is going to work here. But Schlossberg has now lost my vote, with this gimmick.

We made this argument in trying to persuade people to vote for the NYC ballot proposals that will make it easier to build housing.

Expanding Medicare is the solution, adding new babies at birth and lowering the age of eligibility. We would still confront the dilemma of limited $ for increasingly costly treatment but there would be no $ wasted on private insurance profits in the mix.

That's a great point. I couldn't put my finger on why that piece seemed so off base (in addition to my point) but that's it exactly.

This is like the OpEd in yesterday's NYTimes saying Shapiro is a promising leader because he fixed the roads quickly in PA, and is competent. What world are they living in when Trump is destroying the country in countless ways?
