(And because I was asked about this is a post that then got deleted: my thoughts on the GSA are far to complicated to fit into a post and certainly don't map to 2025 politics. But, yes, the GSA is and was *incredibly* inclusive and values social justice, for sure.)

I loved being a Girl Scout as a kid -- it was a structured social space, got me outside a lot, and I learned all sorts of useful skills. But both the Girl & Boy Scouts are very into respecting authority. I can't believe Hegseth sees *them* as a threat.

I haven't lived in the US for 13 years and basically grew up under a rock, so my instincts could be off-base, but a generic winter card (snow! a bird! pretty lights!) with a short note and, say, $10-20 (or more; your finances are not my business) would be within the range of "normal and appreciated"

There's a range of directions this project could go, from anthro / ethnobotany / cultural evolution through to extremely crunchy macro methods. Everyone on this project has interdisciplinary interests, and we're used to supporting students from a wide range of academic backgrounds.

Please apply!

I also once got into an argument with someone about the location of a particular conference. Which...like...this is a well-documented fact. So baffling.

On Twitter I once complimented a niche celebrity for something he said on his podcast, he quote-tweeted something extremely snippy, and a slew of his followers then told me that I don't understand the geographic location of my own home-town. It was all extremely bizarre.

We're partnering with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, who are, like, the coolest. Also, there's lots of directions this project can go, so if you have any questions, please get in contact. (My email is easily searchable.)
