Whitmire is showing us, again, who he serves when push comes to shove: not working families, not the undocumented Houstonians keeping our city running, but the same fear-mongers who weaponize immigration for headlines.

This is a betrayal of the very communities that make Houston what it is… the same immigrant families he claims to celebrate when the cameras are rolling.

You can’t talk about diversity out one side of your mouth and hand people over to ICE with the other.

We just dominated Tuesday’s elections during a government shutdown, with a message of standing tall against this corrupt Trump administration—and the first move after victory is to bend to their budget demands?

Tuesday night’s results were crystal clear: voters want Democrats to fight back, not fold.

No “deal” should involve giving up any ground on healthcare.

Keep the subsidies, protect families, and stop negotiating against ourselves.

Back then, Democrats caved after Republicans swore they’d address healthcare “soon.”

They didn’t.

Let’s be clear: this isn’t a deal.
It’s a delay dressed up as diplomacy.

Senate Democrats are reportedly floating a “deal” to simply hold a vote on extending ACA subsidies in December—not a guarantee of passage, just a promise to maybe consider it later.

We did this exact song and dance in March.

Trump literally asked the Supreme Court to block an order requiring his administration to pay out full SNAP benefits for November… then hopped on Air Force One to party with the rich while millions wonder how they’ll afford groceries.

All so he can keep playing politics with their lives. And the second he filed that motion?

He hopped on a plane to Mar-a-Lago for another $3.4 million taxpayer-funded weekend surrounded by billionaires.

With that comes the responsibility, and the opportunity, is need to lead with vision, courage, and intention.

We’re not waiting for permission anymore.

We are the moment… and it’s on us to move like it.

78 people spoke at Council in favor of the original plan.

Dozens more showed up to an emergency TIRZ meeting to oppose the Mayor’s changes.

Whitmire and the city ignored them all.

He forced a redesign that made Montrose less walkable: narrower sidewalks, eliminated safety features, and overbuilt lanes.

The city had to request four separate variances just to strip out the pedestrian improvements residents had already fought for.

The community spent years designing a Montrose Boulevard project with 10-foot sidewalks, safety measures, and neighborhood input.

Whitmire came in, froze the project, ignored the district council member, and let a lobbyist and campaign ally rewrite it behind closed doors.
