IIRC there are some provisions about recall to duty for discipline, but I don't remember the details. I *think* those provisions are focused on dealing with people who did something while in uniform.

Given Musk's wretched sidetable photo, I'm half willing to believe his place looks like nasty student housing.

Though the TV is truly too small to be believed, as someone else said.

Pinball brain here... LLMs and imaging equivalents, since IIRC their contention is that all "training" material contributes to the slop, should be liable *for* their entire earnings *to* every single creator they've swiped material from, regardless of volume. Bigger thieves than any torrent-pirate.

Didn't know that!

The multiple blocks made me wonder about inheritance from other systems.

Did Singer's have any design relationship with loom (or other fabric-related) instruction systems?
November 24, 2025 at 7:39 AM
Probably completely addled, but: old boomers slinking in to do a quiet delivery.

Also from the outside, the fact state government structures are, other than IIRC some being uni- and some being bicameral, more or less the same, has always been surprising.

Registering your party affiliation with The Government is not what I'd expect from The Freedom Country.

It feels like there *should* be a dozen fractious parties with wildly different, internally managed, approaches to candidates and membership.

Setting aside slamming the Boob Slider all the way over, did someone forget what faces look like?
November 24, 2025 at 12:02 AM
Let's do all that, but this time on the same continent. Great plan!
November 23, 2025 at 11:56 PM
Thanks! Was trying to parse actual differences from PR "we're the hardest" stuff.

Is the ammo allocation more of a comment on generosity to the Rangers or a paucity for the rest?

Feels like their theoretical specialities (versus kicking in doors wayyy ashore) could be handed off to the dive world and Marines.

Total outsider question: what are the practical differences between 75th RR and a squared-away (light) infantry unit?
November 23, 2025 at 8:57 PM
Yeah, Communist God-Kings, complete with a mystical mountain. Once it gets going it acquires its own life: I was thinking specifically of Kim I to Kim II as the key test.
November 23, 2025 at 6:33 AM
I think the Kims, with far more advantages, are the only really good example of doing so at the national level. Castro did a serviceable job of not so much handing his on as winding it down.

Legolas/Gimli meme, but Classic Lefty Artist/Activist and Agent J. Fedgar Badsuit.

I wonder if, by the time that happens, they'll still be that cohesive, either as a caucus or in their interpretation of what their base wants.
November 23, 2025 at 2:23 AM
It's a big world; a column of elves on their way to inconvenience Sauron elsewhere catching wind of the Helms Deep situation seems feasible.

(though undoubtedly ruled out by something that JRRT actually wrote down!)

Asbestos-fabric tethered balloons to launch some of it, for the complete "all the best parts of dragons without, here's the key bit, having to deal with dragons."
November 23, 2025 at 12:56 AM
Certainly. Was just thinking your rich kid is now living an even more isolated existence, now, without those non-kid-focused staff adjacent to their life.
November 22, 2025 at 8:49 PM
But with fewer staff in a household than there used to be, and more functions outsourced or otherwise depersonalized.

Would be interesting to compare outcomes for wealthy kids in, say, 1900, 1920, 1950, and now.
