Also if you look at lot of these films they are intensely bad on gender politics - Weird Science etc... The nerds in them didn't want to liberate society they were just angry they weren't the ones in charge. It's the kind of more subtle toxic masculinity that The Social Network is partly about.

Oh wait, maybe I've missed the joke, apologies if so haha

I think some of the women attending the club found him to be quite a difficult authoritarian guy tho... And I believe he did advocate for some v dodgy shit, despite also ostensibly being a socialist.

Sorry if I am off with this or it's so basic a take you already know, it's not my field, but isn't this v similar to Carl Schmitts theory of the state and sovereignty?

You probably already know this but there was quite an active and radical anti poll tax campaign in Haringey in London

The acting is often annoying, except for Dano and Anderson, but it's definitely worth watching.

We also don't hear these same arguments being made for nationalisation etc despite them being equally as supported by the public

And we talk about the public like they aren't influenced by mass media campaigns - like those seeking to demonise minority groups

Again these things are interlinked in multiple countries and you don't have to just care about your home country - seems like you actually care a lot about things that are happening in the US!

This is the third time I'll say I'm not American so I'm done replying. Have a nice life xx

So you think that ppl should not campaign against genocides in other countries? Even if their country of origin is profiting from it? What do you think we are campaigning for here - we are primarily focused on stopping our countries intervention and support for Israel?
December 16, 2024 at 3:33 PM
I'm not American (as stated already), and very much in favour of my country changing radically. Also sadly I think it's v naive to think Bibis removal will change anything, the country will continue to be an apartheid state. I don't know why you assume we aren't trying to fix ourselves here?!
December 16, 2024 at 3:32 PM
My government is giving money to Bibi, how can you believe these things are not interlinked? How can you scoff at people in my country trying to stop this financial support?!
December 16, 2024 at 10:50 AM
My country (not US) profits directly from the genocide, I've been outside their factories. I care about the other genocides, most of us do, why do you assume we don't, why do you act w such bad faith!? Could you pls provide me with a ranking so I can denounce the right genocides?
December 16, 2024 at 10:49 AM
Ah so I'm not allowed to be upset about mass killing or try and stop my government from funding it because I am a different ethnicity to the people being killed, what kind of insane logic is that?
December 16, 2024 at 10:47 AM
'Movement'... It's about stopping a genocide, wind your neck in and read the book Jeff is recommending and you'll realise the insane irony of your reply.

I always felt like expanding the politics of the game (and options to spread ideologies) would have grabbed me more, making it a bit more Victoria and maybe more moddable into something for the Cold War... But maybe that's what you mean about alienating current audience.

What are the third and fourth films?
November 11, 2024 at 12:22 PM
I was reading a thing a while ago (sorry, aware this is not a reference) about how the right actually gets on a lot less well than people on the left think and is also constantly in-fighting but often less about ideological things
