Did I mention I fucking hate that human-suit wearing monster?

And this isn't an emergency. This isn't a health crisis. But "leaving things up to the states" has always baffled me because I don't understand how we don't have universal laws & truths from one state to another. But here's a perfect example of how some states just aren't up to standards of others.

Estimated processing time 40-45 days. That does not include shipping. Seriously? I mean, while more than a little impressed by IL, I did not expect the one from TN to come as fast but, no more than a week or two, surely? NO. 40-45 fucking days. That cert better have gotdamn gold-leaf on it.

One was coming from IL, the other from TN. The one from IL said estimated delivery to CA was 1/29. Incredible, I thought. Impossible even. And I was right. It was delivered on 1/28. Not even a full 2 business days it was processed, printed, shipped and delivered across country. And the one from TN?

I am at once both livid and terrified, but! a teeny tiny very petty part of me takes a little joy every time I see someone who voted for him, post in tears about how something that monster is doing hurts them. Like, girl, we tried to warn you. FAFO.

My husband's eye is so close to be 100% healed and they wanted us to stop treatment. They don't want us healthy. They want us sick and hurt and bleeding us dry.

...even if you're improving, even if your doctor deems it medically necessary. The doctors aren't the problem. The medical offices aren't the problem. The corporate greed, the for-profit monetization of health care is the problem.
January 31, 2025 at 3:15 AM
All of that to say is, don't fucking talk about "we can have a public option but lets keep private options too!" when talking about universal health care because these private insurances don't want to cover any more than they legally have to...
January 31, 2025 at 3:15 AM
Obviously, as a woman, I already have thoughts on that, but to my male readers, know that when they talk about ab*rtion, they're using it to ply on your emotions and distract you. They want to control and decide everything. Even if you pay for private insurance.
January 31, 2025 at 3:15 AM
Even though we pay for private insurance, government funded insurance gets to dictate how things go. The government gets to decided health care decisions for us.

I asked the doctor about that, had the FDA just made changes? "No," he said, "it was Medicare. When Medicare makes changes the rest of the ins companies follow their lead. Medicare doesn't want to cover medicine longer than they absolutely have to, even if the doctor deems it the right treatment."
January 31, 2025 at 3:15 AM
I heard one of them say to another that this was the first denial they'd gotten for that medication. When I said something the nurse said, "Oh, it's happening all over the practice this month." And the look on her face let me know that these changes probably aren't stopping anytime soon.
January 31, 2025 at 3:15 AM
That means he'd give my husband the shot with a sample of the medicine so we wouldn't be charged for the injection and our insurance would only be billed for the visit, not the medication. I wasn't letting my husband leave without the shot, but the wave of gratitude I felt was overwhelming.
January 31, 2025 at 3:15 AM
The doctor came in to read the notes with the managing staff about the denial. Without skipping a beat, without even thinking of what to say or even looking at us he said, "So we'll sample it today."
January 31, 2025 at 3:15 AM
But today was not covered. Remember reader, the teeny tiny shot is thousands of dollars.
January 31, 2025 at 3:15 AM
Nurses and office staff were crowding in the room to look at the notes in the computer. One nurse brought the box with the shot in and another took it away saying "no, it's not covered." Two managing nurses were collaborating on how to write up the notes for future visits to get those covered.
January 31, 2025 at 3:15 AM
So we went in. They scanned his eye. Reader. The red is gone. I nearly cried. But it's not 100% yet. Almost. So close. So fucking close. A couple more shots and he'd be good.
January 31, 2025 at 3:15 AM
The office told us to come in anyway for today's appointment. They'd see what they could do. Maybe they just need to fix the verbiage of their pre-authorization request. Maybe the doctor will use a different medication. Maybe they have samples available if need be and the doctor approves.
