technically you could do what is done for bookmark count but that would be appview dependent, but if you want anyone on network to be able to do that, then yea very much true

also now that i think of it a lot of things need likes public
there's also notifications
technically it could be private but it would be much more centralized to bsky appview if i think correctly

one reason i think its public is for custom feeds to know what to recommend to you
besides bookmarks are kinda just private likes
