I can't believe they unbanned Island after that unanimous banning on 4/1 many years ago. The game has just continued to go down hill because Island is so broken.

Final Fantasy and Marvel have their own card game for fuck sake. People should go play them, build up those communities, let Magic be Magic. It doesn't need other IPs to be an amazing game. It allready was with 30+ years of people playing the game and world building breathing life into the game.

I am extremely passionate about Magic the Gathering, it's flavor and lore are an inspiration and space of escapism for me and to have it treated with such little respect and discarded as a piece of trash, is something that frustrates me so much that I have no words for it.

So the use of Arabian Nights as an argument for it being the first Universes Beyond set it a farce. Magic is a unique world that has inspiration from the classical fiction and high fantasy of our world. It is the birth of the new out of the shared human fantasy.

In Magic lore we talk about world souls and their avatars. IIRC Selesnia is the Avatar of the world soul on Ravnica, on Dominaria the world soul has a name and has had many avatars called Maro Sorcerers. The world soul is named Gaea, and it the literal spirit of the 'earth' for Dominaria.
