French delicacy, foie-gras is goose liver, upscale. Pied de Cochon is restaurant, name translates as 'pig's feet'. Specializes in local Quebec products, upscale but not snobby.

Yeah, they are separate flats/apartments, many are triplexes. Often, in the old days, the owner would live on the ground floor, and rent out the flats above.

Not originally an aesthetic choice, and many were working class housing. It all began with a city by-law (early 1900's, I think). It required a certain amount of green space in front of residences, so to retain as much space indoors, stairs were built outside instead, with a tiny lawn underneath.
